Your site's URL
Every site gets an address like:
https://k7m2xq4p.kan.fyiThe eight characters are generated by the server. They are lowercase letters and digits, they are not derived from anything about you or your files, and they are never handed out twice — an address that belonged to a deleted site is retired, not recycled.
You cannot choose it
There is no way to pick your own address, and no way to change one after the fact. This is deliberate: addresses that can be chosen get squatted, traded, and used to impersonate, and every one of those problems lands on whoever holds the domain.
If you need a memorable address, put the kan.fyi link behind one you already control — a short link, a QR code, or a redirect from your own domain.
The name you can change
A site also has a name, which is just a label to help you find it on your dashboard. Rename it as often as you like.
Renaming does not move the URL. The address is fixed for the life of the site; the name is only ever cosmetic. This catches people out, so it is worth saying twice: a site called “Wedding invitation” and a site called “Old draft” both still live at whatever eight characters they were given.
Custom domains
Not available. There is no way to serve a site at your own domain today. The dashboard says “coming soon” on that panel, and until it doesn’t, the eight-character address is the only address a site has.
